Downtown Improvisations
As soon as the second lockdown ended (December 2020), I celebrated the newfound freedom by spending one day at the Downtown studio in Strasbourg recording some improvisations with the help of Didier Houbre. Here are the pieces that might find a place, who knows, in a future “real” album…
- Amore sospeso (per Anna e Leo)
- A February Melody
- Melancolie
- Reflections
- Metamorphoses
- Dancing Leaves
- Song for Willy (in memoriam)
- A Mad Girl’s Love Lamentation
- Entre deux
- Ines’ Wellentraum
- Passeggiata hamiltoniana (with a little help from Polo)
- Around a Concert in Köln…

Piano bar
I spent more than ten years as professional Piano-Bar pianist on the prestigious “Le Bretagne” boat cruising long evenings along the Seine in Paris. This experience pushed me to explore many different musical genres and to train intensively my skills in improvisation. My improvisation on Keith Jarrett’s Köln Concert received the Giulotto Price of the Pavia Music Festival in Italy in 1995.
Find here a portrait published in the CAES Magazine of CNRS describing my musical performance at the Gala at the Ranelagh Theatre in Paris (December 2017).
- A short improvisation on Keith Jarrett’s Köln Concert (at the Teatro Colosseo in Torino, 15 December 2016)
- Janvier (someday in Paris, some years ago…)
- Elton’s moment
- From Ennio Morricone to Michael Nyman through Nino Rota
- Variations chopiniennes
- A choral between two Arias (extract of the thematic piano cruise of the boat “Le Bretagne”)
- Starting from a Brad Mehldau’s musical idea
- Ninna nanna mamma (variations on a famous Italian lullaby)
- Si Conte m’était conté… (a little hommage to Paolo Conte in three songs)
- Je me suis fait tout petit (Georges Brassens)
- Aux alentours de Notre Dame de Paris (extract of the thematic piano cruise of the boat “Le Bretagne”)
- Notes croisées (between Serge Reggiani and Queen)
(Non professional recordings)
